They are threadbare because they have been washed a million times. Which is also why they are incredibly soft and broken in.

I know what you mean about having an old garment you just love wearing. Rhonda gave me a Hawaiian shift house dress (muu muu) that I love! Mom has already patched it up three times and the patches are quite noticeable since they were big tears -- but I still wear it. Thankfully, I don't have to lay on the bed to put it on -- not sure I would be able to get up. lol
